Zovirax - Zovirax Ointment and Zovirax Cream
Zovirax can be taken orally, or as in case of Zovirax ointment and Zovirax cream; applied to the infected surface. Although it may have other uses, Zovirax is predominately used to treat outbreak symptoms associated with herpes. Like other medications used to fight herpes, it does not cure this condition. It only acts to stop the spread of herpes.
The Zovirax cream treats cold sores associated with the herpes virus. The cream is so effective that it has been known to cure cold sore almost a half day earlier or sooner for people who used it, than the controlled group or people who did not use the cream. The cream itself should only be used about the face and around and/or on the mouth and lips. Side effects directly linked to Zovirax cream, typically include dry skin, dry lips, and peeling or flaky skin.
The Zovirax ointment is used to treat cold sores and genital herpes. The one thing that you should know is that Zovirax ointment should be taken by people with healthy immune systems. And, it is so strong that that it's application should be treated with care. For, the ointment there is only one dosage level and this should not be changed without a doctors consent. The Zovirax side effects include swelling around the infected area, itching, and mild pain and/or a burning sensation on or around the infected area.
Though the Zovirax ointment has only one dosing level, other forms of Zovirax's dosing will depend on weight, medical condition, other medications, and the sufferer's response to treatment. Zovirax ointment; Zovirax cream are effective medicines, but only when used as directed.
