Nexium - Nexium Side Effects
A common prescription medication given for heartburn is Nexium, which works by reducing the amount of acid that is produced by the stomach. Few people have problems with taking Nexium and it is one of the more widely prescribed acid reducers, but some Nexium side effects do exist. Generic Nexium is available as well, giving a lower-cost option to many people that still need relief and all of the benefits of brand-name Nexium drug.
Common Nexium side effects include relatively minor effects such as headaches, nausea, gas, and dry mouth. While it's possible that more severe side effects can occur while you're taking Nexium, the occurrence of these more severe effects is quite rare. Should you experience any side effects when taking Nexium or generic Nexium, consult your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible for their advice; in the event of severe Nexium side effects, they may tell you to discontinue use immediately. Even if use is not discontinued, Nexium is generally only prescribed for a period of six to eight weeks when needed.
Generic Nexium will in most cases provide the exact same benefits as the brand-name version of the drug, though as with all generics some individuals may experience slight differences between the two versions of the drug. Your doctor should be able to advise you as to whether a generic Nexium would be right for you, helping you to save money on your prescription while still giving you the benefit of acid reduction.
