Mirapex (Pramipexole) - For the Relief of Parkinson's disease Symptoms

Mirapex (Pramipexole) is a dopamine agonist used for the treatment of, or the symptoms and signs of idiopathic Parkinson's disease (PD.) It generally helps Parkinson Disease sufferers to improve their ability to perform normal everyday activities, by reducing tremor, stiffness and other common Parkinson's disease symptoms. Mirapex is a brand name medication with a generic name called pramipexole, and it is from the class of drugs called Dopamine Agonists.

Mirapex is administered orally and are available in tablets and extended release tablets forms.

Other Uses:

Apart from the treatment of (PD) Parkinson Disease, this drug is used to treat other medical conditions like: (RLS) restless legs syndrome which causes involuntary movement of the legs by those suffering from the disease. (RLS) restless legs syndrome occur much more frequently at night which makes sleeping sometimes difficult. Like with Parkinson Disease, Mirapex helps decrease the signs and symptoms of RLS thereby making sleeping much more easier.

Recommended dosage for this medication for the treatment of both (PD) Parkinson Disease, and (RLS) restless legs syndrome are different. Always follow your doctor's recommended dose for whatever treatment your doctor prescribed the medication for you.

Side effects:

Most common side effects of Mirapex are: nausea, sleepiness, involuntary movement, dizziness, constipation, loss of appetite, dry mouth, runny nose, headache, blurred vision, frequent urination, confusion, upset stomach, weight loss, lack of sex drive, and many more.

Patients who suffer from liver or kidney diseases should not take Mirapex without talking to their doctors first. Drinking alcohol is not advised while taking this medication. Pregnant mothers should consult with their doctor before using this drug; as it may be harmful to the unborn baby.

Some cold medications and other allergy and pain narcotics may not go well with this medication. Adverse reaction may occur in some cases, therefore talk to your doctor if you're taking any pain killer, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, depression drugs, seizure medications or any similar medication, as serious or adverse side effect may occur.

Follow your doctors recommended dose; report any unusual feelings to your doctor while taking Mirapex. Do not stop taking your medication unless instructed by your doctor. If you think that your condition may improve with increase dosage, consult with your doctor to make sure that is the right thing to do.
