Astelin (Azelastine hydrochloride) the Antihistamine Spray
Astelin (Azelastine hydrochloride) is a prescription only antihistamine spray used to treat nasal allergy symptoms caused by either seasonal allergens, or environmental irritants or both. Generic Name of Astelin is Azelastine and it is known to be effective antihistamine against allergies such as itching, colds, coughing or asthma attacks.
The primary usage of the medicine is of relief for allergic conjunctivitis. This is an inflammation of the white portion of the eyes otherwise known as the Conjunctiva. The most common description of such an inflammation is Sore Eyes.
Other uses of Astelin:

These usually come to attack adults and children during the months when pollen is present. There is no specific time table for the growth of pollens since these are present in plants that may bloom all year round. The flowers to be avoided are the small flowers with faint colors.

Astelin Side Effects:
- Headache

- Nosebleed
- Somnolence or Drowsiness
- Weight Gain
Withdrawals:
Taking the medicine beyond the dosage is not harmful. Just make sure you do not take double doses when missed or skipped.
Dosage of Astelin:
It is prescribed as nasal spray having 2 sprays in each nostril for adult and children over the age of 12.
What to avoid if youre taking Astelin:
- Alcohol
- Breast-Feed
- Sleeping Pills
- Muscle Relaxants
- Depression or Anxiety Medicines
Pregnancy and Breast Feeding:
The affective of Astelin during pregnancy is not yet known. Pregnant women should inform their doctors immediately before taking this medicine. Azelastine could pass into the breast milk, and may harm your baby. Breast feeding mother should not take this drug until they talk to their doctors to see if breast feeding could be suspending while treatment with the medication is going on.
Azelastine is not a known steroid yet there are nasal sprays that may be associated with it. Always check with your Physician if you are pregnant, breast feeding or taking any drug that might interact with this medication.
