Actonel (Risedronate Sodium) For Osteoporosis or Bone Loss
Actonel (Risedronate) is Pyridinyl bisphosphonate oral Osteoporosis pill used for the prevention of bones and spinal fractures. Actonel: generic name Risedronate; belongs to a group or class of drugs called bisphosphonates that changes the cycle of the breakdown and formation of the bones in the body. It is also identified to slow down bone loss while bone mass is increased, this prevents bone fractures. Because of active ingredients and properties present in Actonel, it is a major prescription medicine used to prevent osteoporosis and also for the treatment of Paget's bone disease.
Actonel comes in different strength tablet form; some can be taken once a day, once a week and stronger tablets are to be taken once or twice a month only. It is therefore advised to follow your doctor's orders conscientiously to avoid advert reactions as well as get optimal results form taking Risedronate. Take the tablet first thing in the morning. Within 30 minutes after taking the medicine, refrain from lying down, reclining, taking other medicines, eating or drinking anything other than water.

You must also inform your doctor if you are taking any type of NSAIDs like celecoxib, diclofenac, naproxen, ibuprofen, piroxicam and others.
Warnings:
Discuss things first with a medical expert before taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you have hypocalcaemia or low blood calcium, vitamin A or D deficiency, kidney disorder, or if you have stomach or esophageal ulcer. You must talk to your doctor about dose adjustment if you have any of the above conditions.
Actonel is FDA category C pregnancy rated drug. It is not known however whether this medication is harmful to an unborn baby. Pregnant mothers or those who plan on becoming pregnant should talk to their doctors before using this drug. It is possible that this medicine could pass through breast milk, so talk to your doctor if you are a nursing mother.
